CARLI KLINGHOFFER, MD
My Journey
My passion for integrative medicine began during my medical school years in the early 2000s. Struggling with chronic pain and health issues due to undiagnosed Lyme disease, I found that traditional Western medicine alone did not provide the relief I needed. My journey towards healing began with acupuncture, which offered symptomatic relief and deepened my understanding of the mind-body connection. I started practicing mindful meditation, which brought significant benefits such as heightened focus, pain management, and a profound sense of gratitude.

A Holistic Approach
My personal and professional experiences have taught me that the mind and body are deeply interconnected. Physical health struggles often impact mental health and vice versa. Stress often plays a significant role in the progression of both physical and mental illnesses. Over the past 15 years, my practice has been informed by the understanding that early trauma and adverse events are major contributors to the development of mental illnesses, manifesting as anxiety, depression, and attention problems. While biological factors are important, our experiences significantly shape our mental and physical health.
My Philosophy
I take a holistic approach to treatment, working collaboratively with you to achieve your goals. This might involve prescribing psychotropic medications to alleviate symptoms, but equally important is my emphasis on lifestyle modifications and stress management techniques. I can work with you therapeutically to help you process past traumas and promote healing, fostering a path towards a balanced and fulfilling life.

I am a curious and open-minded person, and interested in different modalities of healing. I am informed about Internal Family Systems (IFS), also known as parts therapy, which is a model that promotes healing by addressing and healing our protective and wounded parts. In addition, I have a particular interest and am knowledgeable about plant medicine and psychedelics. I do not prescribe ketamine or psychedelics, but I can discuss them with you, including the potential benefits and risks as they pertain to you. I can also refer you to resources in the community and help you integrate your experience.
